Moxham Castle was a large stone mansion originally built by Arthur J. Moxham for his family in Ohio in 1890. In 1898, Arthur Moxham had the building dismantled and rebuilt on King's Road in Sydney when he was appointed general manager of the Dominion Iron and Steel Company. After a series of family tragedies, the Moxhams returned to the United States and only used the castle during the summer months. During the First World War the castle was donated to the Canadian government to be used as a rehabilitation hospital for wounded servicemen. In later years the castle changed hands several times and was eventually abandoned and vandalized. It was destroyed by fire in 1966.
