Photos and Photo Postcards - WW2 - Canada - 1939 to 1941

Photos

This section contains a series of thirteen photos pertaining to the Cape Breton Highlanders while they were in Ontario in 1941. They were taken when the battalion was training in either Connaught Ranges or Camp Borden. The photos are from a photo album that had belonged to veteran Cape Breton Highlander Charles MacLean from Sydney Mines, NS.

The Cape Breton Highlanders moved to Connaught Ranges, just outside of Ottawa, at the end of May, 1941. A month later they moved to Camp Borden, a large training base also in Ontario. They remained at Camp Borden until the end of September, at which time they relocated to Camp Debert in Nova Scotia, prior to going overseas in November, 1941.
