This is a group photo of officers from various battalions. It was probably taken in the early 1920's, possibly at a summer camp. The location is unknown. The men in highland uniform are believed to be Cape Breton Highlanders, who at the time, wore the First World War style uniform of the 85th Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders). Their cap badges appear to be either 85th Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders) or 185th Battalion (Cape Breton Highlanders). Other men in the photo appear to be wearing uniforms and badges of the 25th Battalion (Nova Scotia Rifles).
From comparison to other photos, a few men in the photo have been identified:
Front row, second from the left, is Major James Archibald "Archie" Anderson, MC from Big Baddeck, Victoria County, Cape Breton.
Front row, fourth from the left, is Lt-Col. Murdoch Dan Edwin McKeigan. He commanded the Cape Breton Highlanders from May, 1921 to May, 1927.
Front row, sixth from the left, is Major William George MacRae. He commanded the Cape Breton Highlanders from May, 1927 to February, 1932.
Middle row, fifth from the left, is Lieut. Charles John Oram, MC, from Baddeck, Victoria County, Cape Breton. He was the signalling officer for the Cape Breton Highlanders and had served in the 25th Battalion (Nova Scotia Rifles) during the First World War.
Back row, second from the left, is Lieut. Donald Neil "Big Dan" MacDonald from Middle River, Victoria County, NS.
