This section contains five photos pertaining to the Change of Command ceremonies for the Cape Breton Highlanders in June, 1953. The retiring commanding officer was Lt-Col. Angus Norman MacDonald. He commanded the battalion from March, 1949 to June, 1953. The new commanding officer was Lt-Col. Carl Dauphinee Arnold. He commanded the battalion from June, 1953 to June, 1959, including the transition of the battalion from the Cape Breton Highlanders to the 2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton). Both men served overseas in the Cape Breton Highlanders during the second world war.

The Pipes and Drums of the Cape Breton Highlanders lead a parade. Directly behind the band, on the right, is Lt-Col. MacDonald (retiring), and on the left is Lt-Col. Arnold (new). Behind them are the troops, mostly Cape Breton Highlanders, but also a few women from the Canadian Women's Army Corps.
