Three Soldiers Around Campfire

85th Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders)

England

Circa 1916-1917

This is an interesting studio photo of three soldiers from the 85th Battalion sitting around a campfire prop in front of a backdrop of tents. The men are all members of the regimental band. Note the bandsman trade badge on the arm of the man on the far left.

Left to Right:
1.  223060 Pte. Truman Bishop Davidson from Stellarton, NS
2.  223149 Pte. James William Henderson from Stellarton, NS
3.  223066 Pte. James Roy from Westville, NS

The men were all former members of the 78th Pictou Regiment "Highlanders," a highland militia unit in the Pictou area.

Pte. Davidson died of pneumonia on August 1, 1917 in Rouen, France. The other two men survived the war.
