In the centre foreground is the commanding officer of the battalion, Lt-Col. Robert John Spinluff Langford. He was born in India and living in Vancouver, BC, when he was transferred from the Royal Canadian Regiment to the 193rd Battalion upon request of the 193rd's former commanding officer, Lt-Col. John Stanfield.
