Studio Portrait Photos and Personal Profiles - First World War

Photo

One studio portrait photo of Thomas Graham, an enlisted soldier in the 185th Battalion, circa 1916.

Pte. Thomas Graham

185th Battalion (Cape Breton Highlanders)

Circa 1916

In this studio portrait photo, Pte. Graham is wearing an early issue standard non-highland issue seven button Canadian tunic, leather waist belt, and a balmoral with full length feathers and a 185th Battalion cap badge. 185th Battalion scroll type collar badges are visible. He holds a swagger stick in his right hand. The photo was probably taken in Canada in 1916 before the battalion went overseas.

Thomas Graham was born in Sydney Mines, NS and enlisted in the 185th Battalion (Cape Breton Highlanders). He later served in 193rd Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders), the 17th Reserve Battalion, the Canadian Forestry Corps and finally the 44th Battalion (New Brunswick).
