Seated in the centre of the photo holding a cane or walking stick, is the commanding officer of the 185th Battalion, Lt-Col. Frank Parker Day. The man next to Lt-Col. Day, dressed in what appears to be civilian attire, is the judge for the competition, Pipe Major G.D. Taylor.
