This section contains photos of nine examples of other rank collar badges for the 185th Battalion, circa 1916-1918. Eight of the examples show the common scroll type pattern seen in most war time photos. They show variations in the look of the badges based on different manufacturers, varying metal content and finish coatings used during the manufacturing process, aging, and general wear and tear over the years. One example shows the rarer maple leaf pattern collar badge.

There has been some debate among badge collectors whether this pattern of badge was actually issued for wear during the war. The bulk of the war time photos of soldiers show the scroll pattern collar badges being worn, but one war time photo recently surfaced showing a 185th Battalion soldier wearing the maple leaf pattern collar badges. It was taken in England.
