The 83rd Field Battery was a militia artillery battery based out of Stellarton, NS. It was commonly known as the 83rd Stellarton Field Battery. George Saunders was an officer in the 83rd Battery in the 1930's.
Camp Petawawa was located in Eastern Ontario and was a summer training militia camp, especially for artillery and engineering units.
In the above photo, taken at Camp Petawawa, the 83rd Field Battery is shown fully mechanised. Their 18 pounder field guns are towed by six wheeled, British built, Crosley and Leyland trucks. Officers and specialists rode in civilian type small cars. In this photo the car appears to be a Ford sports model sedan, circa 1930.
