Camp Petawawa was located in Eastern Ontario and was a summer training militia camp, especially for artillery and engineering units. In the 1930's, George Saunders served in the 83rd Stellarton Field Battery and became an officer in the unit. He spent time with the 83rd Field Battery training at Camp Petawawa during the summers.

The back of the postcard has a handwritten note from George Saunders to his wife Mary. It was written while George was in Petawawa and is dated July 11, 1930. He held the rank of sergeant at the time.
