This is the front cover of a dance card for a 185th Battalion New Year's Eve dance in Guildford, England, December 31, 1917. It consists of a folded piece of cardstock type paper with a ribbon that appears to be an Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders tartan pattern. This tartan pattern was adopted by the 185th Battalion for their kilt design.
Printed in gold lettering on the front, but partially blocked by the ribbon, is:
A richt guild rousing welcome.
Wi" hearty Highland chear.
A real aul Scottich welcome.
To thee thou guild new year.
