Pte. Robert Alexander Muir

219th Overseas Highland Battalion

England

Late 1916

Pte. Muir poses for a portrait photo in front of a backdrop at a photographer’s studio in England. The photo would have been taken just before he was transferred to the 85th Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders). He wears a balmoral with full length 219th Battalion coloured feathers. A 219th Battalion cap badge, collar badges and a numbered shoulder title are visible. The rest of his uniform is standard non-highland Canadian Army issue for the time. It includes a seven button tunic and leather waist belt. He appears to be holding a swagger stick in his right hand.
