In this photo Murdock holds the rank of major. The location is not known but the photo was most likely taken in Cape Breton. Murdock is wearing ribbon bars on his chest indicating the photo was taken after World War One. His cap badge is from the 94th Regiment but his collar badges are General List. After the war Murdock probably re-established his ties with the 94th Regiment which would have reverted back to militia status. In 1920 the 94th Regiment was reorganized and became the Cape Breton Highlanders.
