In this photo are the First and Second World War military medals awarded to Bill Laurence. They are left to right:
1. British War Medal - Awarded to all ranks of the Overseas Military Forces of Canada who went overseas from Canada between August 5, 1914 and November 11, 1918 or who served in a theatre of war. The British War Medal above is inscribed on the rim with "877577 A.SJT. W.M.LAURENCE. R.C.R."
2. Victory Medal - Awarded to all ranks of the fighting forces, civilians under contract, and others employed with military hospitals, who served in a theatre of war between August 5, 1914 and midnight of November 11/12, 1918. The Victory Medal above is inscribed on the rim with "877577 A.SJT. W.M.LAURENCE. R.C.R."
3. Canadian Volunteer Service Medal - Awarded to persons of any rank in the Naval, Military or Air Forces of Canada who voluntarily served on Active Service and honourably completed eighteen months total voluntary service from September 3, 1939 to March 1, 1947. The recipient's name was not inscribed on this medal.
4. War Medal 1939-1945 - Awarded to all full-time personnel of the Armed Forces and Merchant Marines for serving for 28 days between September 3, 1939 and September 2, 1945. The recipient's name was not inscribed on this medal.
