The Nova Scotia Forestry Draft was authorized in March, 1917, and consisted of three companies, recruited from across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, to provide reinforcements for the Canadian Forestry Corps. Recruits were men experienced in the lumber industry and were to be utilized for cutting trees in England, Scotland and France to supply lumber to the front lines. After organizing at Camp Aldershot, NS, the Nova Scotia Forestry Draft arrived in England on July 4, 1917. A month later the unit was broken up with officers and men being absorbed by other forestry units.
