On the reviewing stand is Major-General Edward Chester Plow, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. On the right is the battalion commander, Lt-Col. Carl Dauphinee Arnold.

The road slopes down to George Street. Note the smoke stacks from the steel plant in the background. The Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion are in the right background.

Standing on the left, wearing a sword, is Major-General Edward Chester Plow, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Standing near the centre of the photo, wearing medals, is Second World War Cape Breton Highlander veteran, Major Michael Leo McIntyre. He would go on to command the 2nd Battalion from 1962-1966. The Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion are in the background.

Standing at the microphone is Major-General Edward Chester Plow, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Facing him on the far right is the battalion commander, Lt-Col. Carl Dauphinee Arnold. On the left is the Queen's Colour and on the right is Regiment Colour. 

The houses in the background are facing along Desbarres Street.
