2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton)

Major Legge stands in front of the colours of the 2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton). On the left is the Regimental Colour. On the right is the Queen's Colour.

In front of Major Legge is an inscribed bell to the Cape Breton Highlanders from the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment of the British Regular Army. The bell was presented in 1931. The Cape Breton Highlanders and hence, the 2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton) were allied with the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment since April, 1931. The Cheshires were formed in 1689. In 1758, they were a part of the British forces that laid siege to the French at Louisbourg. They landed at Kennington Cove, near Louisbourg, prior to the assault.

Joseph Legge commanded the 2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders from 1966 to 1967.
