Depart for Overseas on HMT Saxonia

Halifax, NS

May 20, 1915

Men of the 25th Battalion (Nova Scotia Rifles) and 22nd Battalion (French Canadian) wave and cheer as His Majesty's Troopship Saxonia pulls away from the pier in Halifax. The 22nd Battalion was recruited in Quebec. The ship arrived in Plymouth, England on May 29, 1915.

The Saxonia was a passenger ship built for the Cunard Steam Ship Company and was requisitioned for service as a troopship.
