The photo was taken near the front of the Halifax Armoury located on North Park Street in Halifax, but it is not visible in the photo. The large wooden building in the left background is the Park Street Presbyterian Church. In the right background is the Halifax Commons with one of the temporary barrack buildings visible.
Seated in the second row from the front, 5th from the left, is the commanding officer of the 246th Battalion, Lt-Col. Norval Henry Parsons.
