Borden Recruiting Letter

This section contains images of a four page letter from Lt-Col. Allison H. Borden addressed to the the Boys and Girls of the Nova Scotia Schools and dated February 14, 1916. Borden was the commanding officer of the 85th Battalion and appointed commanding officer of the newly authorized Nova Scotia Highland Brigade. In the letter Border urges school children to talk to their fathers, older brothers, and older male friends about enlisting in the new brigade to fight the Germans.

The new brigade originally consisted of four Nova Scotia Battalions, the 85th, the 185th, the 193rd and the 219th. A fifth battalion, the 246th was formed to recruit reinforcements for the brigade.
