This Canadian Army photo was taken after the troop ship Ile de France docked in Halifax.

Left to Right:
1.  Lt-Col. Robert Boyd Somerville
2.  Lt-Col. Sylvester B. MacKinnon
3.  Lt-Col. J.B. Weir
4.  Lt-Col. W.W. Ogilvie (He left the Cape Breton Highlanders as a major when he was wounded in Italy.)

A Group of Warrant Officers Arrive Home

Cape Breton Highlanders

Halifax, NS

January 26, 1946

This Canadian Army photo was taken on board the troop ship Ile de France as it docked in Halifax on January 26, 1946. The ship carried approximately 7000 Canadian veterans home from overseas. These men look happy to be home.

1.  Company Sergeant Major T. Kuthman, Sydney Mines, NS
2.  Company Sergeant Major John H. MacQueen, Donkin, NS (Awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal for actions in Italy and Holland.)
3.  Company Sergeant Major R.J.H. Thompson, Melville, NB

1.  Company Sergeant Major George D. Hall, Lunenburg, NS
2.  Pipe Major George J. Sutherland, Soldiers Cove, NS
3.  Regimental Sergeant Major Stanley M. MacDonald, New Waterford, NS
4.  Company Sergeant Major Ronald F. Hawkins, Woodstock, NB (Awarded a Military Medal for actions in Italy.)
